How’s it hangin’?
I’m personally feeling better this week. Doing nothing over the weekend really does help a lot with giving me the energy to start up the roughs for the week. Managed to get ahead on comic work for Bodysuit 23, which is nice! Less so on Kat, but I’m back on schedule the very least!
Two days ago I went and saw Neon Genesis Evangelion Death/Rebirth in theaters. The first time I had seen the film since high school when I rented it and End of Evangelion on DVD from blockbuster. It’s a clip show movie. It’s alright. Mostly just to get you to remember what happened in the show to prepare you to see End of Evangelion. Of which I’m seeing tonight after I post the comic everywhere! I had debated whether to skip out last night and go to bed early instead but I’m glad I went as it was still exciting to see. And helped to brush up on some forgotten details of the show. Last time I watched the original TV series in its entirety was like 2010ish. Haven’t been in the mood to go through it again despite having bought that limited edition bluray set years ago specifically so I could own the original English dub on bluray.
And last night I saw End of Evangelion in the theater! It was super neat! The place was way more packed with people compared to Death/Rebirth. Not to say it was empty, but about half as many people went to Death/Rebirth. It really is a different experience watching it in a theater setting with booming audio with a eager (and quiet) crowd. I did get up to use the bathroom during the live action segments so I missed the guy giving the audience the middle finger.
Saturday I went to the Yoshitaka Amano exhibit in Dallas and saw some of his original artwork in person. It was really fucking cool. Some of the art is massive! Like 10-12 feet tall massive! And so full of details, too! Another situation where I debated whether to skip and just relax or not but I’m glad I went. It was also the final day to go see the exhibit so it was a “miss it now and you’ll never get the chance again,” situation. Also helps that the exhibit was free too. Turned out to be in a art gallery that was by my old apartment that I never knew existed. Like, if you drove by it in person you’d think it was just some warehouse or something. I plan to go again in the future when they open up their next exhibit.
