As you can see I did not finish the episode in time. I plan on getting it done tomorrow. Sorry about that!
I finished watching Iria the other day. Overall I thought the OVA was a lot of fun with some cool action set pieces. Glad I held out to watch it in HD instead of that old DVD copy I have. There’s the two live action movies in the series still but I’m not sure I’ll ever get around to it. I’m not the biggest tokusatsu fan in the world and some of the clips I’ve seen the male leads seem incredibly obnoxious in it.
Also popped in Honey and Clover and watched the first few episodes. When I watch it the show makes me go “aaahhh, youth!” It gets me nostalgic as I first watched it via fansubs at Project A-kon in 2006 in one of the video rooms where they showed the first 4(?) episodes and immediately fell in love with it. At the time I was 16 so it was me watching a show about older college kids and their coming of age. The last time I sat down and watched the whole thing was when I was in my early 20s, where I was on and off going to community college and right around the age of the characters, so it was me watching my contemporaries. Now I’m 36 and a decade and change away in age from the characters, so when I watch them it makes me reflect those old days gone by. Like walking around the campus of University of Texas at Arlington in the middle of night with friends despite none of us attending there and just walkin’ and talkin’.
I also like the soundtrack a lot, especially the insert songs they use. Some of them were my go to driving songs in the mix CD I listened to in my car all the way through 2019 until I got my current car and had an aux port.
Anyway highly recommend the show. Good dramedy.
And with that I’ll see y’all next week!
