A Kat’s (GOD AWFUL!!!) Blessing – 137

WARNING: I wrote the first half of the blog post while drunk last night. I am presenting it as is just as those on Patreon read it.

I have been drinking so gonan try and put this blog post out without too much of an issue and aw hell I dragged the wrong file hold on.

Okay got the right one.

Anyway here’s the blog post. My apartment was giving away free alcohol so I got some plus some appetizers like slidres and fries and these tacos and these fried chicken things which I guess was popcorn chicken but not really I dunno.

On top of the free alcohol I bought some more too.

And now IU bought some more so I’m gerttting pretty tipsy but I gotta put this out because if I don’t do it now lord knows when I’ll get to it.

Which is actually tomorrow. But iut needs to go out today. So here it is! Hopefully! Maybe! I think it’s rht e wrfuck the okay. Had to scroll down because the screen was off. Anywhere hopefully here’s the high res files and not the regular sized ones. Pray for me that I do it correctly on my personal websitea ctually you know what I’ll just do it to9morrow as that is gonna require a whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooole lot more work with the little icon thing I gotta save 9ut and copy and past this thing. A cool thing about being a fan of old anime is that you’re always hearing about something you never knew even existed. And I don’t mean “oh, this show you missed out two years ago, which is ANCIENT by modern day anime fans, is old as fuck and you should check it out.” I’m talking about “Hey, here’s this two episode OVA that was made for this super famicom game in the early 90s that you NEVER fucking heard of despite the fact you’re 35 and have been an anime fan for over 25 years now.”

And this weekend it happened to me where I saw a bluesky skeet going “A lot of furries are anime fans but you never hear anyone ever talk about Murobo?” cued up with a clip of Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust. Boy oh BOY does it hit a bunch of check marks for me! That early 90s look, fantasy setting, cutesy looking characters, a cat girl, a swordswoman, and BOLD AS FUCK line work during sakuga moments? Sign me the fuck up!

In the story department it isn’t gonna blow your socks off. It’s a slice of a much more grand adventure featuring two groups of adventurers destined to form a large party to stop the big bad being tricked into fighting one another prior to meeting before realizing the error of their ways and joining forces. But man do I absolutely adore the look of it! Everyone’s got this semi-looking chibi look to them, except for Murobo, the large buff furry dude who can wreck your day up and not break a sweat who also looks cool as hell with this awesome set of armor. Then there’s that thick line work with that 70s crosshatching look you’d find in old Osamu Dezaki series that does it for me. I love it.

And Ryuquir is absolutely adorable! Just look at her! She’s an cute ball of energy! I love her!

The internet archive has the manga adaptation available to that I downloaded for some style practice down the road. As for a translated version of the anime there’s a torrent over at nyaa. If you like old fantasy anime you’ll enjoy it. Plus it being only 2 episodes means you can plow through it in under an hour. Good for a weekend anime snack!
